If you are interested in our rent-a-mare
scheme for
this breeding season then contact us.
We have decided to open this up for 2 weeks using our mares.
You pay for the breeding fee and costs associated and
for the upkeep of the mare, and we manage the entire process for you.
Mares stay with Romany Cobs Stud, and we don't charge
foaling fee, or handling the foal. You pick up at weaning.
We keep the costs down, and you get your quality bred Gypsy Cob
sporthorse foal at weaning.
All our mares are selected for their conformation,
type and temperament.

Although there are no definitive records it is believed that early breeders
combined the blood of Shires, Clydesdales, and Dales and Fell ponies,
primarily in order to obtain a colourful and powerful working companion.
Some Fresians and Galloway trotting ponies the later of which have faded
into extinction also may have contributed to the gene pool.

Gypsy horses generally are gentle and quickly bond with those who care for
them. Their presence can be calming to their owners and inspire confidence
since very few ever exhibit temperamental attitudes.
Gypsy horses are
cold-blooded with a draft horse temperament. Cold blooded horses are
generally the largest and strongest for work duties such as plowing or
pulling carriages and typically the most easygoing.
Gypsy horses are
not easily frightened by encounters with strange circumstances and they
adapt to training for a variety of disciplines - they are great "all-rounders".
It could be said
that not all cobs are Gypsy horses but all Gypsy horses are considered cobs.
